A team of Special Cell led by Inspr. Vivekanand Pathak and Insp. Kuldeep Singh under the supervision of Shri Nishant Gupta, Addl. DCP/NR has unearthed an illegal firearms manufacturing factory based in Meerut, U.P. Two key members of interstate illegal arms supply syndicate namely (1) Sanjeev @ Munna (age-27 years) r/o Fatehpuri Colony, Rohtak, Haryana and (2) Noor Hasan (age-25 years) r/o Humayun Nagar, Meerut, U.P were arrested. Fully finished 60 semi-automatic pistols have been recovered along with some unfinished firearms and apparatus/machinery which was being used in the preparation of these illegal firearms.
In view of the forthcoming Republic Day Celebrations and Delhi Assembly Elections, the sleuths of Special Cell of Delhi Police had launched a special drive against suppliers of illegal firearms in Delhi and NCR. Owing to its concerted efforts, Special Cell during last one year has busted several such illegal modules and has arrested many members of these modules by seizing more than 650 sophisticated/semi-automatic weapons.
During investigation of these cases, it was found that firearms were being brought to Delhi and NCR from Meerut, U.P. Now-a-days illegal arms suppliers have shifted their base in different cities of U.P by establishing manufacturing units there and using skilled labour in manufacturing of Arms in those units.
Discrete surveillance was kept upon activities of illegal interstate arms syndicates during which one such illegal arms syndicate was identified which was involved in trafficking of illegal firearms to Delhi, NCR areas from their manufacturing units in Meerut, U.P.
Operation
Acting upon a secret tip-off regarding the illegal arms trafficker, the sleuths of Special Cell apprehended one Sanjeev @ Munna, r/o Rohtak, Haryana from near DA-Block, Shamshan Ghat, Haiderpur, Delhi, where he had come to supply the consignment of illegal weapons to one of his Delhi based contact. Total 10 semi-automatic pistols were recovered from his possession. A case under appropriate sections of law was registered at PS Special Cell, Delhi in this regard.
During spot interrogation, accused Sanjeev @ Munna disclosed that he is part of a big illegal arms supply syndicate and is involved in supplying of illegal weapons and cartridges to various persons after procuring them from one Fakruddin and his son Noor Hasan, resident of Meerut, U.P. In pursuance of his disclosure statement, a raid was conducted at the house of Fakruddin in Humayun Nagar, Meerut, U.P, where illegal weapons were being manufactured. On 19/01/2020, accused Noor Hasan s/o Fakarudin was arrested from his house and 50 more illegal pistols along with raw materials i.e. springs, barrel, magazine etc. and machinery such as lathe etc. were recovered from there.
Interrogation of accused persons
Accused Sanjeev @ Munna disclosed that he has been indulging in this illegal trade of supplying firearms for more than 05 years. He is a permanent resident of Rohtak, Haryana and used to procure illegal pistols from Fakruddin and his son Noor Hasan of Meerut and further supply the same to criminals of Delhi and Haryana. Sanjeev @ Munna is an absconding criminal of Haryana and he was wanted in case FIR No. 02/2020 dated 02/01/2020 u/s 302/397/34 IPC & 25/27 Arms Act PS Barauda, Distt. Sonipat, Haryana. In this case Sanjeev @ Munna along with his associates namely Shamsher and Bedu had shot dead one shopkeeper namely Devender in village Rukhi, Distt. Sonipat, Haryana for resisting to their attempt to robbery. He has also been found involved in two more criminal cases of Arms Act and robbery, registered in Haryana. In the year 2019, he was arrested in arms act case registered vide FIR No. 146/19 dated 14/04/2019 u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act PS Sonipat City, Haryana.
Accused Noor Hasan disclosed that manufacturing of fire arms is their business for last three generations. His grandfather, father and other family members are indulging in this illegal trade of manufacturing of firearms for more than 30 years. He learnt this art from his father, who used to prepare these weapons for more than 20 years. Presently, his family members including his father and brothers are also indulging in manufacturing of illegal arms and supplying the same to various criminals across country including Delhi, U.P, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh for many years. Fakaruddin, the father of Noor Hasan, is a notorious name in the field of arms smuggling. Noor Hasan told that he supplies pistols in bulk. He also said that the quality of these weapons is good.
Profile of accused persons
Sanjeev @ Munna completed his B.Sc from M.D.U, Rohtak. After that he fell in bad company and started committing petty crimes. First time he was arrested in case of house robbery registered vide FIR No. 470/15 u/s 342/392/452 IPC PS Sonipat City, Haryana. Thereafter, he joined hands with the syndicate of arms suppliers. He used to procure illegal pistols from Fakarudin and his son Noor Hasan of Meerut, U.P and further supply same to criminals based in Delhi and Haryana.
Noor Hasan
Noor Hasan got education up to 8th class. He has been indulging in manufacturing of illegal arms for last 10 years along with his family members. He used to procure raw materials to prepare illegal arms from his contacts based in Meerut, U.P. He was arrested in an Arms Act case in the year 2017. Fakarudin, father of accused Noor Hasan is also arrested several times in cases of arms act. Recently, his mother was also arrested in a case of Arms Act. Ali Hasan, his brother is still lodged in Daasna Jail, Gaziabad in a murder case of PS Lisadi Gate, Meerut. In the said case, Ali Hasan and his two associates shot dead a person over personal enmity.
Further investigation of the case is in progress.
