A team of Spl Cell SR led by Insp Shivkumar and Insp Karambir Singh has busted an interstate gang of robbers indulging in ATMs uprooting in Delhi NCR by arresting kingpin of gang namely Arshad Khan (age 27 yrs) s/o Asar Khan R/o Village – Bai, PS – Tijara, Distt. Alwar (Rajasthan) today on 09/08/2020 at about 7.40 pm near red light Village Nangaldewat in South Delhi after a brief exchange of fire.
Brief facts of the case of recent ATM uprooting in Village Rajokari in the area of PS Vasantkunj South in which Arshad was wanted are that Naresh Gupta, bank manager of Indian Bank(erestwhile Allahabad Bank) in Rajokari Delhi reported in PS Vasantkunj South about uprooting of said ATM during intervening night of 04@05/08/2020 by unknown criminals.
Team of Spl Cell SR which was already working to identify the perpetrators of recent cases of ATMs uprooting in Mehrauli and Narela in Delhi also started efforts to identify the perpetrators of ATM removing in Rajokari area.
Today on 09/08/2020, a specific information was received by Insp Shivkumar about coming for doing reconnaissance of more ATM booths by Arshad, head of this gang in the area around Nangaldewat in PS Vasantkunj.
A team led by two Inspectors was formed, deployed in the area and trap was laid near above said village Nangaldewat at about 6.30 pm today on 09/08/2020.
On pointing out of informer, Arshad coming in his Etios car was spotted near red light Village Nangaldewat at about 7.35 pm, Arshad was cornered and asked to surrender, but he whipped out his pistol and fired 4 rounds towards team members.Police team also fired in self defence to overpower the accused in which he was hit by a bullet and he got injured in his left leg. Finally he was disarmed and overpowered by the police team.
One semi-automatic pistol with 2 live cartridges was recovered from arrested Arshad. Total 7 rounds were fired ie by 4 by accused and 3 by police in said exchange of fire.Injured Arshad has been immediately rushed to Safdarjung hospital where he is recuperating.Arshad has revealed that he in conspiracy with with his Mewat based associates namely Wasim@ Danny, Kalmu, Chhotu and his own brother in law namely Junnad @ Jumna had removed ATM of Indian Bank in Rajokari area on 05/08/2020 during night.
He has also disclosed that their associates had stolen Mahendras’s mini truck from PS Vasantkunj area on the night of 04&05/08/2020 for loading/taking ATM in it.A rrested Arshad has disclosed to have uprooted the ATMs in Rajokari and Badarpur area with the help of members of his gang.. Apart from above cases, he has also been found previously arrested in three old criminal cases of thefts in Delhi.
He also disclosed that he himself used to rakki of ATMs booth in Delhi and today also he had come to do the rakki.Further interrogation of accused will be made after his treatment in hospital.
