New Delhi : The staff of Police Station Safdarjung Enclave has arrested two cheats namely Deepak and Om Prakash @ Rahul ( both real brothers) R/o Ambika Enclave, Nihal Vihar, Delhi who used to book online Cameras/Laptops etc.and later used to cheat delivery boys by making excuse to arrange money from nearby ATM and in the mean time his associates used to replace
originals with fake material.
INCIDENT & ; ARREST
On 13.06.2019 complainant, a delivery boy who works in Blue Dart Courier Services had informed that his company handed over him threeLaptops to deliver to one Roshan Kumar (Fake name) R/o Safdarjung Enclave. Since the address was incomplete, he called on the given mobile number on which the customer asked him to come at Chirag Residency, Safdarjung Enclave. Thereafter he had delivered all the Laptops to him. After the delivery accused later identified as Deepak asked him to accompany him to nearby ATM, for withdrawal of money as he is short of cash. On reaching at ATM accused asked him that money could not withdrawn from the ATM, and again asked him to return back to the guest house where Laptops were kept by his associate.
On reaching guest house, when the complainant saw the delivery packets, he found the seal on these parcels torn and weight of these parcels was also less. On asking the accused person tried to flee from the spot but the complainant alongwith his cargo driver chase the accused person and successfully apprehended him and informed police. In the mean time a police team consisting SI Amar and HC Ravinder was also reached at the spot and apprehended one of his associate accused person later identified as Om Prakash on the instance of the accused person. Accordingly a case vide FIR No. 145/20019 U/S 420/34 IPC was registered at PS Safdarjung Enclave and investigation of case was taken up.
INTERROGATION
During sustained interrogation they disclosed that they alongwith there two associates used to place online orders with fake name and addresses in different parts of North Metropolitan cities. They used to travel to different cities and book room on rent for night stay. During this period they placed online orders of costly items like DSR Cameras and Laptops etc. After booking they used to hire another room in these respective cities to call delivery boy to the hotel, and after taking this parcels from delivery boys they pretended that they do not have sufficient cash, hence delivery boy had
to accompanied the to nearby ATM centre for withdrawing money. While remaining accused person replace the original piece in the fake materials like papers etc. Later their two associates used to sale these articles. They further disclosed that they used to book hotels on fake name and addresses so that they may not be traced/identified. During investigation they have also disclosed their involvements in Agra, Jaipur, Amritsar, Ajmer and Chandigarh cities also. Efforts are being made to apprehend their remaining three associates. Accused are also found involved in Case FIR No. 272/18 P.S. Prashant Vihar, Delhi with the same modus operandi.
PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED PERSON
Both the accused persons, Deepak and Om Prakash aged about 23 year and 20 years are real brothers and studied up to 10 th and 8 th class respectively. They belong to lower strata and to earn easy and quick money they started committing cheating. Further investigation of the case is in progress. Concerned police stations are being intimated about the arrest of the accused persons.
