New Delhi : On the occasion of 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Delhi Police organized “Plog Run” in association with NGO United Way Delhi at Golden Jubilee Park(near Rajghat), Delhi today. Sh. Anil Baijal, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Delhi flagged off the run in presence of Guest of Honor, Sh. Amulya Patnaik CP/Delhi and Mr. Jose Ferraro, President United Way Worldwide. The plogging drive was organized to spread awareness about plastic waste awareness & management, and eliminating Single Use Plastic to keep the city clean & green. Around 400 volunteers, including students from Delhi University and representatives from RWAs/MWAs took part in the activity along with police personnel.
Plogging is a combination of walking/jogging and picking up litter scattered while at it. The trash collected by the ploggers during the event was collected by garbage recyclers and will further be segregated and recycled into something useful and be given back to the society.
LG, Delhi also administered the oath to participants to eliminate single use plastic, segregate the waste and to motivate others to keep the city clean and green.
