
New Delhi : The sleuths of Anti-Auto Theft Squad, Dwarka District have busted a desperate gang of Interstate Auto-Lifters with the arrest of two persons namely (i) Robin @ Rahul S/o Titu Ram R/o Jawahar Nagar, Hissar (Haryana), Age 25 Yrs and (ii) Pawan S/o Satbir Singh R/o Village Jhojhu, Distt. – Bhiwani (HR), Age 24 Yrs.
The kingpin of the gang is Robin @ Rahul, who has criminal involvements in more than 30 cases of Auto-liftings. He was among the several prisoners released from Ambala jail during lock-down in the wake of Corona disease. However, immediately after coming out of jail accused Robin @ Rahul teamed up with his friend Pawan to steal luxurious cars and earn handsome money, taking advantage of
[18/05 5:48 pm] Hari Sharma (NDTV INDIA): of pre-occupation of police in duties related to prevention of Corona disease.
Alert sleuths of AATS/Dwarka, however, got better of them and recovered the stolen Fortuner car from their possession. Both the accused have been arrested and will be produced before Ld. Duty Metropolitan Magistrate on 18.05.2020.
BRIEF FACT:
On 14.05.2020, theft of a Fortuner car from Najafgarh area in the intervening night of 13/14.05.2020 was reported at P.S. Najafgarh. A case vide FIR No. 011012/20 dated 14.05.2020 u/s 379 IPC was registered at P.S. Najafgarh and investigation was transferred to AATS/Dwarka Distt on the orders of Senior Officers.
INFORMATION, TEAM AND OPERATION: –
A team of dedicated police officers of Anti-Auto Theft Squad, Dwarka Distt., led by Inspector Ram Kishan and comprising SI Kamlesh, ASI Randhir, HC Jitender, HC Anil, HC Jagat, Ct Sonu, Ct Manish and Ct Arjun was constituted under the close supervision of Sh Joginder Singh Joon, ACP Operations/Dwarka District to make all possible efforts to arrest accused persons and recover the stolen car.
The team scanned CCTV footages of surrounding areas, deployed secret informers, gathered intelligence of active auto-lifters, collected information on recently released criminals from jail and began tracking their movements. A vital clue was obtained from a CCTV footage which led the police to interrogate a few persons.
Based on information extracted on interrogation of said persons coupled with vital clue about suspects provided by HC Jitender and Ct Manish, a raid was conducted at Hissar (Haryana). Both Robin @ Rahul and Pawan were apprehended from near Jindal Hospital, Hissar (Haryana) and the stolen Fortuner car was recovered from their possession.
INTERROGATION :-
The kingpin of the gang Robin @ Rahul has studied upto 12th Class and is unmarried. After dropping from school, he fell in bad company and grew fond of a prolific lifestyle also having about a dozen girlfriends. To fulfill the ever growing need of money and expanses of girlfriend he began committing auto-thefts. He is ispired by Devinder Singh @ “Bunty Chor” he started stealing after watching Oye Lucky Lucky Oye Movie. Soon he became deft at auto-lifting and began stealing vehicles from as far as Delhi, UP, Punjab and Rajasthan.
He frequently visited Najafgarh to meet his girlfriend who resides here and thus was familiar with topography of Najafgarh and surrounding areas. He was released along with other prisoners from Ambala Jail during lock-down. After coming out of jail, he teamed up with his friend Pawan who is previously involved in a robbery at Gurugram and is out on bail.
They planned to take advantage of pre-occupation of police in duties related to prevention of Corona disease and stole a Fortuner car from Najafgarh and drove off to Hissar (Haryana). However, their luck ran out and before they could dispose off the car, both were arrested by the alert sleuths of AATS/Dwarka and the stolen Fortuner car was recovered from their possession.
Rahul is specialized in changing his getup. He used different types of hear wigs to disguise himself while committing thefts.
ACCUSED PERSONS: –
1. Robin @ Rahul S/o Titu Ram R/o Jawahar Nagar, Hissar (Haryana), Age – 25 Yrs. (previously involved in more than 30 cases of theft of luxurious cars)
2. Pawan S/o Satbir Singh R/o Village Jhojhu, Dist – Bhiwani (HR), Age-24 Yrs. (Previously involved in a Robbery case of PS Badshahpur, Gurugram, Haryana)
RECOVERY: –
• Stolen Toyota Fortuner Car No. DL9CAE1838.
Further investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being made to ascertain their involvements in other MV Theft cases and affect more recoveries.
