

New Delhi : With the arrest of accused persons namely 1). Harish Lohia S/o Sh. Ram Lal Lohia R/o Kusumpur Pahari, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi aged about 34 years and 2) Devender S/o Sh. Meher Chand R/o Kusum Pur Pahri, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi- aged about 40 yrs, the sleuths of PS Chhawla has busted a syndicate involved in supply of illicit liquor in private ambulance and distributing the same amongst bootleggers in Western Delhi. Total 25 cartons containing 816 quarter bottles and 97 bottles of illicit liquor recovered and an Ambulance Force Vehicle has been seized.
TEAM & OPERATION:
To curb street crimes and to enhance the sense of security among citizens in Dwarka District, extensive patrolling covering widespread areas are being carried out round the clock by the various police units.
On 16.04.2020, a secret information was received from the informer that one Ambulance Force Vehicle bearing Haryana Number Place would come from Chhawla Village side towards Qutab Vihar area along with huge quantity of illicit liquor. Immediately, a dedicated team of Insp. Gyanender Rana SHO/Chhawla, HC Ishwar, Ct. Mahender & Ct. Pradeep under the supervision of Shri Ashok Tyagi, ACP/Chhawla was constituted. The police staff laid a trap with the informer on the road between Chhawla Village and the field area of Qutab Vihar nearby Shamshaan Ghat and blocked the road with barricades and started vehicle checking. Later on, at around 9:30 AM, one Ambulance Force Jeep was seen coming towards the above said road and the informer after identifying the ambulance signaled the team members. Accordingly, one of the team members signaled him to stop the ambulance. Seeing sudden barricading at the road the ambulance driver and another person came out of the car and tried to escape from the spot. Both were chased, caught and overpowered.
While checking the ambulance, the fridge inside the ambulance, being used for dead body was found filled with illicit liquor. Other illicit liquor bottles were systematically adjusted filled in other space in the ambulance. Total 25 cartons containing 816 quarter bottles and 97 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the rear portion of the ambulance.
During interrogation, driver of the car was identified as 1) Harish Lohia S/o Sh. Ram Lal Lohia, 34 yrs the helper address was identified as 2) Devender S/o Sh. Meher Chand 40 yrs.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 349/20 dated 16.04.2020 u/s 33/38/58 (D) Delhi Excise Act was registered at PS Chhawla, Delhi.
INTERROGATION:
During inquiry, it disclosed that the ambulance is a private ambulance. Accused Devender S/o Sh. Meher Chand 40 yrs. & Harish Lohia S/o Sh. Ram Lal Lohia 34 years disclosed that they were hired by one Jai Singh, who is the actual driver of the ambulance, for Rs. 2,000/- each for each trip of supply of consignment. Jai Singh bought the liquor from Bahadurgarh and directed them to supply the same to some bootleggers. They further disclosed that they know Jai Singh by name only.
During enquiry from the owner of the Private Ambulance Service, it further disclosed the owner had hired Jai Singh around 2 months ago only.
Jai Singh is absconding; efforts are being made to trace him and get detail from how many days they have been smuggling illicit liquor in ambulance.

- Harish Lohia S/o Sh. Ram Lal Lohia R/o Kusumpur Pahari, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi aged about 34 years (previous involvements being ascertained) and
- Devender S/o Sh. Meher Chand R/o Kusum Pur Pahri, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi- aged about 40 yrs (previous involvements being ascertained)
- 25 cartons containing 816 quarter bottles and 97 bottles of illicit liquor
- One Ambulance Force Jeep
Further investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being made to arrest co-accused persons and to affect more recoveries.
