
The staff of Police Station Pahar Ganj, Central District has busted a gang of auto-lifters-cum-snatchers and arrested three accused persons namely (1) Raj @ Golu aged 26 years s/o Mahavir r/o Gali No.10, Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, Delhi; (2) Chetan aged 22 years s/o Suresh @ Raju r/o Gali No. 9, Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, Delhi and (3) Ritik aged 18 years s/o Sanjay r/o Gali No. 11, Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, Delhi. Five stolen two-wheelers and one snatched mobile phone have been recovered from their possession and six cases have been solved.
TEAM & OPERATION
To curb the spurt in property offences in area of Police Station Pahar Ganj, the police station staff was sensitized and got vigilant while performing patrolling/picket duties. On the night of 04-05/04/19, Ct. Veer Singh and Ct. Jai Singh were performing night patrolling during which they apprehended a suspicious person from Main Bazar, Pahar Ganj who was carrying a scooty on foot. On sustained interrogation, it was revealed that he had stolen this scooty from Pahar Ganj area but while escaping, the scooty could not start and then, he was taking it on foot. His identity was disclosed as Raj @ Golu r/o Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, Delhi. Subsequently, a case of MV theft vide FIR No. 109/19 was registered at PS Pahar Ganj and he was arrested.

During interrogation, accused Raj @ Golu disclosed that he used to steal the two wheeler by breaking open the locks and then, he along with his accomplices used to commit snatching/theft on the stolen vehicle. He also disclosed that some other persons are also included in this crime. Subsequently, a team led by Inspr. Sunil Kumar SHO/Pahar Ganj comprising of ASI Rajesh, HC Jitender, Ct. Amit, Ct. Deepak and Ct. Rajpal was formed under the supervision of Shri Sanjeev Gupta ACP/Pahar Ganj.
The team deployed sources and collected intelligence about other active auto lifters and snatchers. On the morning of 06.04.19, an information was received that two active snatchers would come near Ambedkar Bhawan, Pahar Ganj on a stolen motorcycle. Acting upon this information, a picket was installed in plain clothes. At about 9 AM, two persons riding on a motorcycle were apprehended at the instance of informer and during verification, the motorcycle was stolen from the area of PS Pahar Ganj vide FIR No. 11296/19. They were identified as Chetan and Ritik, both resident of Multani Dhanda, Pahar Ganj, Delhi.
INVESTIGATION AND INTERROGATION
Both of them were subjected to sustained interrogation, in which they disclosed that they used to steal the two-wheelers in wee hours by breaking open their locks and then, they commit snatching/theft of mobile and valuables from the passersby walking on the roads/streets. After committing several incidents, they left the bike in abandoned places and further used other stolen bikes for committing crime. At their instance, another two scooty and one motorcycle which were stolen from different areas have been recovered.

- Accused Raj @ Golu is primary literate. He is previously involved in three cases of attempt to murder and theft of PS Pahar Ganj.
- Accused Chetan is a B.C. of PS Pahar Ganj and previously involved in 25 cases of robbery, burglary, theft, arms act, NDPS act etc. of different police stations of Delhi.
- Accused Ritik is illiterate and committing crime since early age.
