Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi inaugurated the new building of Police Station Greater Kailash and residential complex for police personnel, today. The structures have been designed and constructed by renowned Public Enterprises company M/s RITES Ltd. All the modern facilities and amenities both for better police-public interface and welfare of staff have been made available in the building with special focus on quality control. The construction of the building has cost Rs. 32 Crore, which was within the allocated budget.
The Police Station building and residential complex have been constructed on the plot of land measuring 7732 Sq. Yards. The building is five-storied, including basement and consists of 72 rooms, all equipped with modern facilities and basic amenities in consonance with the norms of Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) for Modern Police Stations. Public Facilitation Desk, Children Room and disabled-friendly passages have been made available in the building for better interface with the public. Besides, facilities like gym, mess, fire safety system, CCTV facility, Conference Room and well equipped barracks have been provided in the police Station building for welfare of the staff. There are total of 28 quarters in the residential complex, out of which 10 are type- V for the officers of the rank of Addl. DCP and above, 10 are type-III and 8 are type-II for the officers of the rank upto Inspector.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police, Delhi called it a milestone, as the dream came true after steadfast efforts for having our own complex comprising of police station and staff quarters in the important area of Delhi. He appreciated the efforts of South District Police and PHQ for completing the project well in time. He also complemented the quality work of M/s Rites Ltd.; and greeted the residents of the area, who will be benefitted by people friendly atmosphere in the building. He expected that all the officers will perform their duties in professional, friendly and empathetic manner living up to the expectations of residents. He also commended the efforts of on ground staff of Delhi Police, which perform their duties even in inclement weathers. He further added that it is a great challenge for policing in Delhi being National Capital, but the officers and staff have taken up the challenge efficiently and have been giving their best to excel in every field and aspect.
